Joshua Shivaee, Enduring Essential Employees
Joshua Shivaee started advanced training with TCU/IAM over five years ago at the Gary Job Corps Center in San Marcos, Texas; he completed the welding program at the Flatwoods Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center in Coeburn, Virginia. Joshua started his transportation career with Road and Rail Services as a Carman with four of his classmates. After a couple of years on the job, he met a Chief Operator while visiting a tattoo shop who told him about the great opportunities at Nordco. Now, after two and a half years with Nordco, Joshua has moved from Assistant Operator to Chief Operator. Joshua travels extensively for his job and, on one of his trips, he visited his former instructor, Mr. Lane Shelton, at the Excelsior Springs Job Corps Center in Missouri. Josh spoke to the trainees at the time about working for Nordco, which inspired Jerome McCullough to apply for an entry-level job as an Assistant Operator–Rail Flaws Detector. Currently, they travel all over the country together, helping America stay safe and connected. “Mr. Shelton and Mr. Fleming taught me everything I know about the railroad. It’s not just about getting the job done; it’s about getting the job done safely!”
