Shaquawn Spellman, Lasting Careers that Change Lives

After completing his original trade at the Flatwoods Job Corps, Shaquawn followed many of his classmates’ footsteps and went on to Advanced Training at the Humphrey Job Corps Center. Shaq went with an open mind. He completed several specialty modules, including Mass Transit, Rail Freight Service, and Airlines; Shaq wanted to be ready to seize the opportunity wherever there were job openings. After graduating in June 2019, he accepted an offer from First Transit to start his career as Bus Fueler and Washer, a role that has become critical during the pandemic. Looking forward, Spellman has the opportunity to move into a Bus Driver position. “I work with a lot of people from different backgrounds; I like that part of the job.”
